Members and nonmembers of the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly Street, are invited to free events and activities for anyone 50 and older. The center is a vital community resource where older adults can age in place while thriving in motion. Residency in Pasadena is not required to attend events and activities.

Bilingual Tech Help Program – Mondays at 10 a.m. in the Technology Lab, with instructor Mariana Porras. Learn how to navigate social media platforms, send texts, check voice mails, set alarms, and more. Whether you need assistance with your smartphone, tablet, or computer, this is a valuable chance to get those questions about your device answered. Discover Your Passion – Thursday, April 3 at 10 a.m. via Zoom, Presented by L.A. Mental Health. Discovering your passion can give new meaning to your life. This presentation will help reflect on feelings of joy and happiness. The discussions will lead to the (re) discovery of passion and purpose by exploring a whole new world. Monthly Food Bank Distribution — Friday, April 4, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot at Pasadena Senior Center. Low-income adults 60 and older receive one free box of food and couples receive two. Each box includes foods that meet specific nutritional needs, such as cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, dry milk and related dairy products, cereals and other grain products, and more. Proof of income and California ID are required for first-time recipients. Boxes are heavy, so bring a pull-behind personal cart to the parking lot between the Pasadena Senior Center and the Metro Gold Line station. Opening boxes on the premises is prohibited. Guided Autobiography 1 – Fridays, April 4 to May 9 from 10 a.m. to Noon, Presented by Independence at Home, a SCAN Community Service. Are you 55+ and looking for a way to make a record of your life story? We provide a process that helps you recall and record the significant moments of your life. Each week new life story topics are assigned. Reservations are required by calling (626) 795-4331.
Movie Matinees – Fridays, April 4, 11, 18, and 25, at 1 p.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Each PSC member who registers may bring one nonmember guest.
- Apr. 4: “Dumb & Dumber” (1994, PG-13) starring Jim Carrey and Harry Dunne. Two imbecilic best friends are pursued cross-country by hired killers and police as they try to return a suitcase of money to their kidnapped friend.
- Apr. 11: “A Dog’s Purpose” (2017, PG) Starring Josh Gad and Dennis Quaid. A devoted dog discovers the meaning of its own existence through the lives of the humans it teaches to laugh and love.
- Apr. 18: “Risen” (2016, PG-13) Starring Joseph Fiennes and Cliff Curtis. Follows the Roman military tribune Clavius, whose beliefs are questioned when he’s tasked with investigating the mystery of what happened to Jesus following the Crucifixion.
- Apr. 25: “Hop” (2011, PG) Starring James Marsden and Russell Brand. The bunny heir to a giant Easter candy factory runs away to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams of becoming a drummer.

Guided Tours of Pasadena Senior Center – Mondays, April 7, 14, 21, and 28, at noon and Thursdays, April 3, 10, 17, and 24 at 10 a.m. onsite at PSC. Take a guided tour with a PSC ambassador and learn how the center can enhance your life. Peek in on various activities at the center, such as an art class, dance lessons, computer lab and dozens more, and learn everything else about this first- ever accredited senior center in California. Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy – Tuesday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to Noon. The Center for Health Care Rights provides free Medicare and Medi-Cal counseling and advocacy services. Appointments are required and can be made by visiting the Welcome Desk.
Leaving a Lasting Legacy: Memories & Inspiration – Thursday, April 10 at 10 a.m. via Zoom, Presented by Foundation for Senior Services. Legacy is a gift from one generation to another. We will share various ideas and ways to "Defy Invisibility" through the power of photographs and videos. Learn how you can touch the future and make an impact on future generations. Learn about Loyola Center for Conflict Resolution – Thursday, April 17 at 10 a.m. via Zoom, Presented by LCCR. During this lecture you will learn about Loyola Center for Conflict Resolution, a community-based mediation program that has served over 55,000 Los Angeles County residents since 1993. They provide bilingual (English/Spanish) conflict resolution training and mediation services, including telephone conciliation and large group facilitation services. Professional mediators alongside Loyola Law School students provide these services. Registration is required for this online event. Health Fair and Fresh Produce Distribution – Friday, April 18, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Kathy Eastwood from Huntington Hospital will be doing blood pressure and glucose testing. The Hear Center will be doing free hearing screenings. Insurance representatives will be on hand to show different Medicare Health Plans, and answer questions that you may have. Preassembled bags of fresh, nutritious vegetables will be distributed on the patio while supplies last, courtesy of Order of Malta Mobile Ministries. Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia – Thursday, April 24 at 10 a.m. via Zoom, Presented by Alzheimer’s Los Angeles. This essential session will equip you with the knowledge to recognize the signs of dementia, understand its progression, and explore the latest treatment options available. By participating, you'll not only empower yourself and your loved ones but also strengthen our community’s support network for older adults and caregivers alike. Mediation and Dispute Resolution – Thursday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to noon onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Learn how to resolve conflicts with the help of a trained mediator, including property ownership, landlord/tenant disputes, workplace/employment issues, family disagreements and more. Lunch Program – Ongoing weekdays at 11:00 a.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. If you are 60 or older, enjoy a hot lunch every Monday through Friday on a first-come, first-served basis. Home Tea Program – Ongoing monthly. Anyone 50 and older can sign up to receive tea and an inspirational card once a month. To participate in this program, call (626) 685-6732.
Food Pantry – Ongoing weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Don’t let financial hardship, being homebound or other issues prevent you from eating healthy food. Pasadena Senior Center volunteers deliver food and other supplies to your door. To request delivery, call (626) 685-6732 and leave a message. Someone will return your call as soon as possible.
