U Street Pizza
-
U Street Pizza is the sibling restaurant to beloved Italian restaurant Union in Pasadena from restaurateur Marie Petulla and Executive Chef Chris Keyser. Petulla and Keyser bring their spin on New York-style pizza to LA’s culinary scene through the lens of Union's ethos and made with high-quality, market-driven ingredients. The pizza is made with a two-day fermented dough of artisanal flours from Washington and Vermont and topped with sauce made from Bianca DiNapoli tomatoes and seasonal ingredients from a veritable "who's who" of California farmers and baked in an impressive electric deck oven. Think classic, nostalgic pies like a cheese pizza finished with aged Fiscalini cheddar; a clam version with manila clams, garlic, pecorino, lemon zest, and parsley; and, a nduja pie with ricotta cream sauce, nduja, and mustard frills. Keyser will also be doing an arancini of the day (ex. carbonara arancini di pasta made with "yesterday's bucatini" and a saffron and pork ragu with peas) as well as small seasonal dishes like fried squash blossom saltimbocca alongside salads, sides, and soft serve.
