The City of Pasadena is hosting a variety of events throughout June in celebration of Pride Month. This year's events reinforce the City's commitment to promoting equality and inclusivity for all. Festivities kick off with the raising of the Pride flag at City Hall on June 1, a symbolic gesture of support for the LGBTQ+ community. Additional events during Pride Month include live music performances, book discussions, a movie showing, arts and crafts activities, and more.

Pride Movie in the Park
Saturday, June 10 • 6 -10 pm • Central Park, 275 S. Raymond Ave.
The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and Old Pasadena Management District invite you to a showing of “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar.” Come early to reserve your spot and enjoy pre-movie entertainment by DJ Glenn Red, a “Say Something Hat” contest, and yummy snacks. This 1995 movie is rated PG-13, therefore, some content may be inappropriate for children under 13. Viewer discretion is advised.
Pride Month Celebration: Love, Loud & Proud!

The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department will host its 2nd annual Pride Month celebration, Love, Loud & Proud!, to champion Pasadena’s LGBTQ+ community. Enjoy entertainment, local food trucks, arts & crafts activities, face painting, a vaccine clinic (COVID-19, mpox, Hepatitis A, and meningitis), and more with local LGBTQ+ organizations, community partners, and allies. This is a free, family-friendly event with food available for purchase.

Bags can be picked up at Hill Avenue Branch Library, 55 S. Hill Ave. Pick up your bag June 5 -10 and use the library’s decorating supplies to customize it. Those unable to snag a bag can bring their own bags or t-shirts to decorate! For ages 5+.
Take & Make: Rainbow Melted Crayon Art

Make a work of art inspired by the book “Red: A Crayon’s Story” by Michael Hall. Using canvas and crayons, we’ll create rainbow artwork to celebrate identity, self-acceptance and Pride Month. Once Upon a Walk and Scavenger Hunt

Spend time outdoors while reading and following along to an illustrated book. Enjoy a delightful, heartwarming story about a young person who feels trapped by their identity. The story portrays parental support and love between siblings and boosts children’s literacy skills and well-being. Afterward, head into the library to participate in a Pride Month-themed scavenger hunt of important historical figures. For ages 3+.
Author Gayla Turner: “Don't You Dare: Uncovering Lost Love”

Gayla Turner’s compelling story weaves together a current-day journey of discovery and a true-life love story between two women that took place over 100 years ago. Back then, the LGBTQ+ community loved and lived in the background of society because it was too dangerous to do otherwise. All were hidden, just like the wedding photos belonging to author Gayla Turner's grandmother, Ruby. For ages 13+.
Pride Pets! Teen Cartoons and Crafts Drop-In Program

Drop by to enjoy some tasty snacks, watch cartoons featuring LGBTQ+ characters, and make a beaded lizard keychain using colors that show your Pride! For ages 13-19.
Pasadena Grows: Rainbow Sand Art Succulents

Rainbow Mobile

Make a one-of-a-kind rainbow mobile using upcycled foam shapes, colorful yarn, and a vast array of other materials. Artist Toban Nichols will show you how to create your own personalized Pride vision to hang on a front door or display inside your home. All materials provided.
